I saw a discount on the Moondrop Chu 2, I hadn't really used any IEM so I wanted to try them.

When I first got them they were kind of uncomfortable, after a few days of use I could tolerate them but for some reason I just didn't really feel like using them. I seemed to prefer my laptop speakers.

Also the sound, I'm definitely not a audiophile but I didn't really like the way the CHU2 sounded. The higher tones were too harsh even when enabling bass boost.

Is it just an issue with this model or should I look for over ear headphones instead?

You're dismissing all IEMs on the basis of a set that costs $16?

Kinda yeah? Just confirmed to me that I don't really like inserting stuff in my ear

Then I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for here.

Well yeah in that case iems aren't for you. Although I would still try different ones because it seems to be a fit issue. I had the same problem with dusk and variations. Couldn't get the fit right and long term comfort wasn't there. Perhaps try bullet type iems like final audio e-series?
