Imagine living in a community being more narrow minded than the catholic church...

catholic church(not the right wing followers) isnt as anti-science like protestant or evangelicals, they tend to have alot of scientists i believe too same cannot be said with fundamentalist christianity.

surprising amount of astronomy or astrophysics have catholic or jesuit people in there. never heard of a evangelical one.

Catholicism learned it's lesson after Gallileo. They gotta make sure they're right before they go accusing folks of heresy, now. That means scientists on the payroll.

Galileo actually had a lot of supporters in the church. That was the main reason he wasn't executed.

They were being persecuted for their religion, but that's because everyone was sick of their bullshit.

Specifically being more narrow-minded in supposedly-catholic religious matters than the catholic church, that's really the kicker here. They push these exemptions through because "But muh reeligonz!!!" and then the actual religion used as a shield goes "Nope. Are you this stupid, you stupid fucks?!". 😂
