i understand the charge, but why do media outlets keep posting pictures of the girl? not only is she underaged, but i also feel like it just opens her up to abuse from online trolls/weirdos.
Not to mention giving her first and last name.
She's an alleged rape victim and they're posting her info like it's irrelevant. Disgusting.
People really need to stop misusing the term rape
It’s technically statutory rape, but yeah she’s more likely being groomed
statutory rape and forcible rape are different things sure with different levels of punishment, but both are predatory behaviors regardless.

It’s not a competition, it’s the idea that physically forcing yourself upon somebody who is explicitly rejecting consent vs being with someone who is of the age that they cannot legally consent all falls under the same legal definition of rape, when one implies more violence than the other. It’s all gross either way
Minors? Why is the line at 18? An 18 yo fucking a 17 yo is rape no matter what? What about a 17yo fucking another 17yo? Is it double rape because neither can give consent?
Someone being held down and forced on against their will isn’t the same thing as some ditzy 17 yr old white girl getting involved with some 20 yr old rich athlete haha
But the age of consent can vary over literal miles. A person in the US can be legally banging in one spot but if it happened a few miles over the state border then it's now rape... Lumping that in with forceful rape is just wild and diminishes one of the actual worst offenses a human being can commit.

Any sites posting this haven't stopped for a second to think about it, all they care about is generating content. You dangle a carrot in front of them and they will bite without checking if its rotten.
I watched the Robert Stone documentary a few years ago, in it there is a scene where he is bragging about how easy the media is to manipulate and he says something like “the media is either stupid or it’s evil” he was trying to imply that he could say anything and they would just report it without fact checking.
and as much as I hate the dude It sure seems like he is right.
