- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Not every duel was to the death. Bring back sword duels to first blood.
I think Monkey Knife Fights in international waters could solve must of the world's differences.
Also, Giant Mechs would smooth out international land disputes over night: just check out the documentary Robot Jox.
Honestly, just giving everyone one free face punch per year would be a good start.
And punches don't count if you hit a Nazi.

I believe Hamilton had a 10 step approach to duels to the death. There were about 9 stages of varying surrenders and draws leading up to the death.
This is a misinterpretation of “Ten Duel Commandments”, which does not mention a 10-step nor a 9-stage approach for the duel itself, but the process of setting it up, of which at any point one may chicken out. The segment’s formulation of the process as ten points (which I’ll reproduce here from Wikipedia) is original but apparently does nicely sum up the rules:

I’m a bit confused about your second paragraph. I am talking about Ten Duel Commandments from the musical Hamilton. The list is Wikipedia’s summary of the number/song.
It really reads like an AI attempting to paraphrase the lyrics of the song without infringing upon copyright.
The 10 Rap Commandments was an homage to Biggies "10 Crack Commandments". LMM put in tons of references to hiphop culture, literature, and pop-culture. I particularly like how he managed to work in "Screw your courage to the sticking place" as a reference to both Macbeth and the best song in his favorite Disney movie (Beauty and the Beast). (My opinion on being best song in B&B. Probably #2 for Disney Villain songs...Be Prepared has my #1 spot)
Man the dude is such an impressive lyricist. I can't say I care much for his singing...he's talented, don't get me wrong, but far from the best singer in the original cast (which itself is a huge contest but probably Leslie Odom Jr (Burr), though Renee Goldsbury (Angelica Schuyler) or Philippa Soo (Elizabeth Schuyler/Hamilton) were both absolutely amazing too..."Burn" still gives me chills)....but writing is really his strength.
could you tell me how what I wrote sounds like AI? again, I have always maintained (proper attribution) that the list from one to ten I copied from Wikipedia. that part sounds slightly more like AI because AI trained on that, but I don’t see why someone summarizing a song while avoiding violating copyright (for a Wikipedia article) sounds like AI.

I think that would just be modern fencing. You use something that hurts but doesn't draw blood.
I've fenced with blunted rapiers, that's just a sport. No i think the danger has to be real to count, with proper swords, type to be either agreed upon by both parties or even better run what ya brung, and have at it. Combatants might yet be mortally wounded, but it's not a predetermined outcome.
