Is it hopelessly naive to say it’s a good thing we have identified the specific agent, and it is not a core part of tires nor the tire material itself that is this specific problem.
We don’t have to figure out how to filter tire dust from runoff (yet) or outlaw cars, or even completely reformulate tire materials. Just replace one chemical.
We’ve done that in other scenarios, so it ought to be possible. It’s got to be easier than removing transfats from the food supply or PFOAs from teflon manufacturing

Thanks. That looks promising, but as you said, slow. Looking at the timeline there don’t seem to be any updates since Trump took office so I hope it’s ongoing
