If he wins us a ring I’ll drive him to the Vikings facility in Eagan personally and we’ll stop at Popeyes on the way.

[–] BigBeagleEars@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hey yeah, man. Get me a chicken samich

[–] Drewicho@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I hope he does win you a ring. He's the most likable young player in the league, IMO.

[–] PeekyAstrounaut@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I’m glad he’s getting his recognition. I’ve been saying for 3 years that he’s the most likable guy in the NBA and has the talent to go with it. I’m biased but he should be a super star.

[–] Thimit22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We’re seeing him jump to super stardom in real time right now and it’s beautiful

[–] Mydixxierext4@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

Not happening might as well get that thought out if your head and Bury it

[–] FyodorMusic@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Most likeable lakers fan

Lmao this man leaves the only reasonable comment on here and yall downvote him

[–] DrBigChicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

He’d have to declare for the draft and go undrafted to be a UDFA free to sign anywhere right?

I figure if he was serious about transitioning it might be worth a 7th rounder just for the Vikings or whatever team to sell tickets and jerseys lmao, and maybe he’d be able to get good.

Kid could make a hell of a tight end lol

[–] Pat_Mahomie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Past a certain age you’re just a free agent. No draft needed

[–] Correct_Fly5152@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The Vikings gave Brock Lesnar a shot. I assume they didn’t draft him, but I’m too lazy to google it.

[–] CharityGamerAU@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This is how some Aussies from the AFL have just signed with teams in the past as free agents.

[–] theflyingmetronome@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

NRL actually (rugby) but yeah Jarryd Hayne and Valentine Holmes come to mind

[–] greenusflippus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I remember thinking I had the dark horse of the century picking up Haynes in fantasy. I really thought it would translate better

[–] Tantle18@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It kinda did translate. dude has no experience and was a serviceable player. Problem is he waa admittedly lazy about learning the NFL rules. Which is why he quit when they got a new coach and playbook. But whatever he's in jail for rape so fuck the hayne plane

[–] greenusflippus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

But whatever he's in jail for rape so fuck the hayne plane

😮 oh

[–] crazymunch@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Both mate, punters and kickers come from AFL, running backs or returners come from NRL generally

[–] DeleteAccountant@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sav Rocca was AFL

[–] sector_nectar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The only people who believe football's skill threshold is above basic athleticism are people who either a) didn't play football or b) sucked ass

[–] DrBigChicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Are you saying NFL players are average athletes?

Clarify your point lol

[–] DevinBookersSon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

One hit after catching a ball over the middle in the nfl and he would run back to the nba

[–] DrBigChicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

This was why I played defense. I preferred hitting to getting hit lmao

[–] DevinBookersSon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I always thought hitting hurt more lol, I’d rather run the ball outside and lower a shoulder than be the guy standing there waiting to get the shoulder haha. Loved playing running back, hated playing safety

[–] Mizral@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Do you really think so? Not saying Ant isn't a tremendous athlete but I always thought NFL players had to memorize shit loads of routes and play calls and stuff, seems like a lot.

[–] DrBigChicken@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hence the, “maybe he’d be able to get good”

Lot of work ahead if he really wanted to make the switch

[–] John__Nash@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The route tree is simple, there are only so many ways to run an out or a flag or whatever.

What's hard is being in the huddle and being told spider 2 3 X corner and having 2 seconds to remember your route in that moment and get to the right spot.

Then you add in hot reads and adjustments for that play and yes it gets very complex.

[–] Mizral@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My assumption I guess was that compared to the 90's when guys were doing multiple sports, football has become increasingly complex and the amount of memorization required is probably too much for any athlete to compete in other sports simultaneously, especially one as involved as NBA basketball.

[–] EndTimesPreacher24@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'll be at the facility with some nephews to put him in my trunk and take him back home. You all are not getting away with this.

[–] onamonapizza@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Popeye's chicken is fucking awesome.

....can I go?

[–] HGpennypacker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Vikings facility in Eagan

Is Winter Park not in Eden Prairie or am I way out of the loop?

[–] le_sweden@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They built a new facility about five years ago. Its right off of 494, east of the airport now.

[–] HGpennypacker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Huh, the more you know! Truth be told the last time I thought about Winter Park was when Favre was being driven to it in an SUV and the local news covered it like OJ’s Bronco Chase.

[–] Objective-Morning709@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Seeing “Eagan” in the wild on Reddit is such a trip.

[–] 127crazie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I drive there every week for my job

[–] Nubras@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

My condolences man. Signed, Minneapolis.

[–] le_sweden@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I don’t have any issues with Eagan as far as suburbs go tbh. I kinda like it. I used to date a woman who lived there.

[–] Nubras@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No issues with it at all, it’s just a bit of a hike from the city, you know?

[–] brendamn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Will you let him call you gay?

[–] thirdcoast1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Can’t forget Popeyes.
