This is why I think we need a split award. MLB has the Cy Young for the best pitcher, and the MVP for every other position. You can win both in the same year as a pitcher, but you have to hit an even higher standard for that. So whether it’s Most Outstanding Quarterback or “winning the Montana Award” or whatever, you get a designated QB award and open up MVP to WRs, RBs, DBs, Dlinemen, hell maybe even an olineman if somebody has that crazy a season. And doing it like that wouldn’t even force you to get rid of OPotY or DPotY either, so why not?

We don't need another award though, just a rebranding/marketing imo. MVP should be the quarterback award and offensive and defensive player of the year should be everything else.

As good as Garrett is I don't think you can give it to a defensive player unless they win the Superbowl or something. They're a just too much value on offensive now to say they're not the most valuable players in the league.
