/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Well, at least we know they will return. Imagine the transporter was full of uncredited redshirts...

Tasha Yarr would like a word.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 14 points 1 week ago

She'd already had the peak of what a human being can experience getting plowed by Data so it would all have been downhill from there anyway.

And the word is "Fully functional?"

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The Transporter has a pattern buffer. Why didn't they just keep copying one Redshirt guy to save lives. Like Mickey 17.

"Time for an away mission Redshirt."

But they don't tell him where, and then put him in the buffer. He will just, always be ready.

This is how you get Tom Rikers.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 week ago

One Riker is plenty, what we need are more William Boimlers.

The universe can't handle that much raw sexual energy

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When you think about it, it's weird that that asshole dude wanted to disassemble and possibly destroy Data to copy him when they could have just copied him using a transporter.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I feel like there has to be some laws regarding using a transporter as a replicator.

[–] AmyAye@nord.pub 2 points 1 week ago

Data is a robot though. They make tools all the time. Why not more datas?

Maybe Star Trek Captains have a sort of Meta knowledge?

They know when they send important characters, they will most likely all come back.

So by not sending redshirts, the captain is just looking out for the crew!

[–] nomy@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

There's one redshirt, Riker.

Maybe it's a diplomatic mission and someone needs tromboned.

Well, at least we know they will return.

Unless one of their contracts is up for renegotiation.
