Everyone should've known during his campaign, as he endorsed fracking unreservedly. As I did, as an anti fracking activist.

The problem is, he squeezed through the primary, then was against doc oz. A man who made fetterman look positively sane in comparison.

The primary system and ordinal voting gave us this jackass, and many more of them.

Ranked choice avoids this. Which can pass in the 30 some states with voter sponsored ballot initiatives.

Ranked Choice does not in fact solve anything and is in fact an ordinal voting system.

It too suffers from Arrows Impossibility Theorem.

Which is par for a system first invented and abandoned in 1785.

Cardinal voting systems are the only way to fix things long term.

Basically ordinal systems are built around the word "or". You can support A or B and you must choose.

Cardinal systems are based around the word "and". You can show the exact same level of support for multiple candidates, because in the end if there are two or three good candidates, who cares what order they're in, just so long as one of them wins.

Approval, Score, and STAR are all good options. STAR was even designed this century with computer modeling and a modern understanding of social choice theory.

I do realize there are even better systems, none of them have any play now, and ranked choice keeps people like Sarah Palin out of government.

Germany has an interesting system, but we could never do that here outside of a few states maybe.

There have been so many fuckups with ranked choice elections for me to ever recommend them.

Also, Palin acted as a spoiler candidate in that election. Which is still a thing in ranked choice.
