A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.
This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Weekend warriors. They have full time jobs and undercut the market. They damage the industry they claim to aspire to. They can't take criticism from full time pros either.
Feels weird to gatekeep like this. I’d love to do photography full time but at the moment I also have to work to support myself. I don’t think you’ve proven the point you think you have
I find people who use the “the downvotes are particularly telling” line amazing. What is it telling of? 😂
While you’re allowed to have your pet peeve, others have the right to disagree. It’s telling of nothing other than your initial take not being popular and most people tend to disagree.
A flurry of but but andwers? You got one answer. And it wasn’t a but but answer. Sounds to me like you just can’t take tha fact that some people would disagree with your pet peeve.
I am definitely a weekend warrior, but I believe it’s out of necessity, I have bills that can’t be left to an unsteady paycheck. I don’t undercut, I only do a handful of wedding annually now. I love the art and always willing to learn from anyone, regardless of their expertise.
And you should not feel bad about it! If I could quit my job and dedicate 40+ hours a week to photography I’d do it in a heartbeat. But it’s a very high risk with the cost of living my city / absolutely needing health insurance at all times. I also don’t relate to this persons comment about not taking criticism. I’ve met loads of beginners who want nothing more than feedback and tips.
I wouldn’t even call myself a beginner, def more intermediate, been doing it for about 5-6 years now, was more active early on. That health insurance is definitely another cause.
