It’s an exclamation point on the most exciting play of the sport. You’re not directly taunting an opposing player all you’re doing is highlighting an exciting play you made. Just heard the Toyota Center get the loudest it has been all night while up 20 against the defending champs and a whistle takes the air out of the whole arena.

Said this elsewhere, but a lot of the time the lift is to reduce momentum. You can see it on Tatum, he's looking around and trying to avoid an unsafe landing. It's more complicated than just showboating

No, it’s extremely easy to not lift the way most guys who are getting techs do. Like I said, go into a gym and run up to a pull up bar. It takes a lot more effort to pull yourself up rather than stabilize

Who rhe hell said it was about being easy? Dude said safety. Thanks for letting us know pull-ups take effort though haha. I always wondered myself.

The safety of it is because it’s easy. There is zero danger to hanging for an athletic person. The techs are not for hanging
