I'm a proud owner of Sennheiser HD650 for more than 5 years. Absolutely love them. Decided to try Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro from Amazon at 430Eur. And I've come to the conclusion that its time for me to own 2 excellent headphones.

Now being the cheap ass I am. I want to return the ones I have and buy a used pair for 300Eur.

The question. Will the used headphones purchased in 2019 be as good as the new ones? I mean i dont see my HD650 ageing besides the pads.

Cheers and happy black Friday shopping

As said, the biggest concern is probably the pads. There's other things that can wear of course, but the drivers certainly won't feel a few years. One of my favorite pairs is probably approaching 40 years old now. It's needed some repairs, but still sounds good.

WOW, if I may ask what are these 40 year old headphones?

AKG K240 Monitors. They're not the best these days, but I love how vocals sound on them in particular.

I've listened to some newer K240s (mid 00s?), and I agree. They were great on tubes as well.
