So out of like the top 50 all time players, who had a rookie season most comparable to a Peyton Manning or a Troy Aikman, where they really struggled and their future almost looked questionable

Yeah but no one questioned if Kobe was going to be bad because of his Rookie Season. That may not be the question though.

Kobe only took 5.9 FGA per game his rookie year and averaged 7.6 points per game. That's a 55% TS%, which ain't bad.

Yeah but he still played 15 minutes per game on a contender as an 18 year old rookie

Kobe was playing off the bench behind two all star guards. He didn't have the minutes and definitely didn't have the greenlight despite shooting well
