I have decided to go full fibre which has a planned install date for a weeks time and as a result of that I will lose my landline and phone number. I need to keep my phone number so decided to go with voip. I signed up for voip and have been given a number which I can use. But I need to transfer my old number to replace it.

I am just unsure about the time frame in which it needs to be done. I know I need to transfer my old number before my current landline is cut off or I lose it. That process according to the website takes minimum of 10 working days possibly longer. But does the number transfer just need to be started before my landline is cut off? or does the transfer need to be fully completed? Should I delay the installation?

I do not want to end up in a situation where I lose my old phone number. Any help advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks I am with plusnet as well. The information around all of this is confusing sometimes. I do not know why plusnet do not have a inhouse voip or partner with someone that would make most sense. I ended up delaying my installation anyway to give me more time, thank you for your response.

According to the plusnet forums, it is their parent. BT, who is keen to keep plusnet as a broadband provider only. When I upgraded the plusnet rep suggested vonage but the trust pilot reviews were enough to convince me to go with the plusnet forum recommendation, A&A
