Let who cook? And what does cook mean?

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 14 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

In case you're asking about the phrase itself, it means to let someone continue to do what they're doing to get results that will probably happen from the path they're on.

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

Oh. OK.

Thanks

I mean, I don’t agree with the sentiment, but thank you for explaining it. I was always a little fuzzy on what that metaphor meant.

[–] YourBestFriend@quokk.au -5 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Let the cook do their job and get out of the kitchen?

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 8 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

More like, “let’s wait and see what happens”

If I understand the metaphor correctly

[–] YourBestFriend@quokk.au -5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

So how would you interpret that being used in this thread? Something is not connecting in my brain. It’s too ambiguous!!

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (1 children)

umm... I think the commenter who used the metaphor was trying to say that they want to wait and see what Miller will do before theY (or we) react.

I disagree-- I don't think anyone needs to wait to see what this not-neo Nazi will do, as it's been crystal-clear what his intentions are since he was born. This guy came out of the uterus Siging Heil. he's the kind of guy who would call Hitler a 'pussy' for not going 'far enough'

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

No, they’re saying leave the would-be attempted assassin alone to see what happens

[–] TastehWaffleZ@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I think you’re arguing with a bot or someone with multiple accounts and too much free time. That escalation was wild

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Bro right?? 😂 I absolutely am arguing with either multiple bots or one really angry dude with multiple accounts and terrible reading comprehension. I still like to push back a little to call them out for other users to see, but I’m definitely done replying now because I obviously batted a hive, and all the replies before yours are just nonsense. I’ve had a couple arguments with other bots or bad actors since the midterms, calling them out on their bullshit, so maybe I got flagged for attack or something, because I was not at all expecting this reaction from such a simple comment 😂

Thank you for talking some sense into the situation. It was a bit disheartening to get swarmed with these responses and not see any normal people weighing in, so I appreciate you

[–] TastehWaffleZ@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I don’t blame you at all, I spent a few minutes rereading everything wondering where i went wrong. I kept thinking there was a comment or something I missed because you kept getting downvoted and the replies were so aggressive over you trying to add clarification.

Just ignore it and move on, it’s not worth the hit to your sanity lol

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Seriously, I myself was rereading everything to see if I did somehow miss something or accidentally responded to the wrong comment in the beginning, because I was just flabbergasted with the hostility and volume of replies 😅 That’s part of their MO though, “flood the zone” type stuff, just bombarding me with multiple accounts spewing aggressive nonsense.

Definitely not replying to any more of those responses, since it would only end with more and more bullshit.

Thanks again for backing me up

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

funny, because I'm pretty sure I know what I'm saying since they're my own words coming out of my own mouth. it's extraordinarily arrogant of you to think you can just hijack what I said and assign a different meaning to it while blaming ME for YOUR assholery.

SO 1) you're definitely wrong, probably because you're obviously lying about what I said to make yourself look better

  1. if you can't defend your shitty argument, just admit you're wrong and dip out

  2. if you can't - or won't - do #1 or #2, at least just shut the fuck up and stop embarrassing yourself. there's only so many teenagers who will be entertained by an adult punching themselves in the face

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world -2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

…I was talking about what shweddy meant when he said “let him cook”.

Holy shit dude

[–] homes@piefed.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

No, you definitely weren’t. You got called out, and you think I’m dumb enough to fall for your deflection? you should definitely know better by now. And I suspect you do.

I mean, that’s pretty on-brand for you, but your bullshit still isn’t gonna work here.

Others may have given up by now, but I’m gonna keep going until you either answer for the shit you said, OR, you just give up and go away

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world -1 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

No, they’re saying leave the would-be attempted assassin alone to see what happens

My dude, I said this to cruseo. Why would I say “they’re saying” if I was trying to refute what cruseo was saying? I would’ve said “you’re saying”.

I think the bots are malfunctioning

[–] homes@piefed.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Sounds like some top-tier deflection to dodge the bullshit about what you were saying.

So can you defend the shitty thing you said, or not? Stop trying to blame me for your inability to defend what you said.

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world -2 points 2 hours ago (3 children)

Ok, here’s my defense.

I said:

No, they’re saying leave the would-be attempted assassin alone to see what happens

Here’s how I defend it:

I think that when shweddy said “let him cook”, he meant “let the would-be attempted assassin keep doing what he’s doing”.

There. Maybe phrasing it like I’m talking to a five-year-old will help your AI parse information better. Hope it helps!

[–] homes@piefed.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Maybe phrasing it like I’m talking to a five-year-old

You had to know that anything else you said vanished the second you said this.

And, of course, the only response to this is “fuck you“

Because this is the most petulant, childish, non-sequitur you could possibly have mustered. It’s also the ultimate surrender, admitting that you’re wrong and you know it.

I both accept your surrender, and I have blocked you because I don’t wanna hear any more of your bullshit.

Continue torturing yourself if you must, but I will not allow you to continue torturing me

[–] eurodyne@piefed.world 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

When you start a conversation admitting your ignorance, ending it by calling everyone else stupid is a really bad way to go

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] finley@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

You’re not gonna convince anyone that you’re being reasonable while throwing a tantrum, regardless of your argument

Grow up

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Back up what you said, or admit you were wrong

Don’t blame others because they also had the temerity to call you out on your bullshit

[–] Gerblat@lemmy.world 0 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

“Don’t blame others”, like the other dude isn’t just another bot in your net, sure 😂

I’m not sure why I need to “back up what I said” when all I said was what I thought shweddy was saying, but if you are really struggling to understand what I said or why I said it, look at my latest reply to the “other guy”. Maybe that will help calibrate your AI too

[–] cruseo@piefed.world 2 points 2 hours ago

It’s you both your uncertainty and ignorance that led you into this disastrous conversation. And it is both of those flaws in your character by which I am certain you will fail to find your way out.

I have better things to do this weekend than to educate you, so I’m going to block the foul disgustingness that comes out of you rather than try to correct you.

Best wishes

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Phrased a different way, "let it cook, it's not done yet".

[–] YourBestFriend@quokk.au -2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Ummm that made it worse. What is cooking? And at what stage will it be done?

[–] Duchess@piefed.linenoise.vip 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)
[–] YourBestFriend@quokk.au 1 points 57 minutes ago

Clearly you haven’t left it.
