The NBA isn't even 100 years old yet, but the global popularity of basketball really didn't start maturing until less than 30 years ago.

Modern medicine and training has already, but will continue to develop players more quickly and prolong their careers.

Analytics and statistical analytics will co tinue to find new ways to play more efficiently.

The world will continue to grow in population.. obvious, but needs to be said.

These are really, really easy factors to point out, but for these reasons, and thousands of others, basketball players today are not going to have near the talent of basketball players in 100 years. Especially considering the amount of people exposed to competetive basketball will continue to dwarf the number of decades before.

Statistically, none of the guys we hear about today are going to be the GOAT. Curry won't be the best shooter of all time, neither MJ nor LeBron will be the GOAT, etc.. this holds true for every sport.

So why do people debate? Just genuine curiosity here.

Unless someone has a wild idea on how talent or skill will start regressing, I find it actually idiotic to believe anyone alive right now will be the GOAT of the sport they play in.

I think this is about FAR more than sports to you my friend.

Nihilism may be the most unhealthy philosophy to live life by.
