A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I've been doing photography for years just as a hobby and have never tried selling, but loads of people are telling me I should set up a table at some local art and craft sales. I'm wondering what services I could use to create photo products for a sale. I was thinking of getting my photos printed onto notebooks and journals or maybe mugs, along with traditional prints. Are there any companies that do bulk order discounts for that kind of printing? If I were to go through Walmart, Shutterfly or another basic POD service are there any legal issues regarding reselling mugs and things they print?

Walmart Photo, zazzle, cafe press, others. If you want the physical merchandise to display at a fair, you’ll need to pay for the stuff upfront just as if you were buying for yourself. I believe all of the services have discounts for multiples. For things like calendars, small books from local print shops, large quantities can be discounted, but usually only when you are talking quantities like 2500 or 5000. Because once they get the press set up for a run, which means their initial labor cost is covered, it’s just materials after that. Legal issues? If the photo is your legally owned copyright, you sell what you want.
