A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

With the winter season coming up, I am looking for really good gloves I can wear outside when shooting. I live in a very cold area, and my fingers freeze within minutes of being outside, so I need very warm, but not bulky gloves so I can easily operate my camera. Any recommendations? TIA! :)

It really depends on what an outing looks like for you. Are you out all day and moving around a lot? Are you largely staying in one spot with not much of a hike?

Unless you use something with active heating, warm comes at a cost to bulk. Fingerless mitten/glove combos are a decent compromise but that's a jack of all trades, master of none situation.

When I'm hiking around I prefer my thin ~2mm wool gloves with touchcreen fabric on the index/thumb. If I'm staying in one spot I prefer to throw hand warmers inside big mittens and stuff those in my front pockets and have full use of my hands for a few seconds etc.
