I’m not going to defend the fan here, but an apology the contains “but” is not an apology.

Ok but it’s the “apology” merited by the situation he describes. He should acknowledge it’s wrong to push, while also providing his (valid) explanation

Whenever stuff like this happens I refuse to believe what the player says unless they specify what the fan actually said

Players have accused each other of saying stuff that starts a fight in the past and so often it’s some “he said a really offensive thing and I don’t want to clarify”

Clarify

That way we can look through video and find evidence to back you up. He very well could be telling the truth but it screams of “I fucked up and need extremely vague reasoning to try and brush away behavior that will get me in trouble”
