The Timberwolves now sit at 13-4, the current #1 seed in the Western Conference, almost 1/4 through the season.

Rudy Gobert defensive rating: 102.3 (#1 in the league)

KAT defensive rating: 104 (#2 in the league this year / averaged 109 historically)

Timberwolves: 106.6 (#1 in the league)

If they make the finals this year; are we still saying it was an overpay?

If it yields a championship I think I'm "overpaying" every time.

People thought the bucks "overpaid" Jrue Holiday until it brought them a championship banner

It's always 100% worth it

Only if it works out. Like the Kawhi trade. Ball bounces slightly off for a split second and suddenly you traded your franchise player and picks for a 1 year rental that ended in ECF appearance.

It wasn't the trade that brought them the championship with all due respect

Lakers were fleeced for AD

Every championship is overpaid, with fee lucky exceptions.

That is a huge "if" lol. Winning a championship is a bit different from going 13-4.

But we've already made the #1 in the west November 2023 Banner.

This exactly. Irrational Lakers haters (like BS) have been saying for multiple years we gave up too much for AD and the “Mickey mouse” ring. But I’d want the front office to do it again.

Yeah but it still remains to be seen. Anything less than multiple deep playoff runs and it’s a bad trade. Who were they bidding against?

[–] C4242@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Even if we "win" the trade, it's an overpay. Simply because we seemed to be only out bidding ourselves.

We got fleeced, but both the Jazz and the Wolves can come out winners.

Every single time and then some. So many teams don’t make certain trades because the risk involved in potentially losing value and coming up empty handed, but winning it all or even making it to the finals is extremely hard. We see a lot of teams that have won it all taking these risks. Bucks with jrue trade looking like a bad trade but it won them a ring, raptors with kawhi was arguably one of the riskiest trades in recent memory but it won them a ring. Lakers trading literally everything but staples for ad but they got a ring out of it. Cavs trading the #1 pick with massive upside for klove was a risk (albeit not nearly as big as the others) and they won a ring. Obviously if you win a ring , you take those trades every time. And obviously it doesn’t always work out (looking at you harden multiple times, Kyrie, pg)
