I mean, it was a bad movie and an odd choice for casting, but these things are not his fault.
On that note, I think Jesse is a good actor, but... he's not a Lex. Why do we seem to be trying to cast young skinny dudes as Lex and directing them to play him as a rich spoiled manchild? One of the very few things that have me concerned with Superman 2025 is the casting of Nicholus Hoult. Again, a good actor, but I'm worried about his physicality and his ability to be menacing/physically intimidating.
Tech bros are the current rich villain archetypes because they are in real life and Jesse played one in The Social Network.
I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor in his casting as Luthor.
True. I don't love that for the character though.
His Luthor was fucking terrible, just his generic spastic character.
This. I thought he was the perfect villain. And it wasn't until after I was halfway though that I realized it was because he played Zuch. L
Basically the same character, and he's perfect at it.
No, his Zuch was a calm and callous jerk who screwed over anyone he could to come out ahead.
His Luthor was like his characters in Zombieland, Adventureland, and Now You See Me.
Luthor was a calm and calculating jerk
Yeah, real calm and calculating, not spastic Eisenberg.
The newest Lex Luther in Superman & Lois, did a great job. That worked. The writing for his character had some questionable choices. They made him very fragile and pety. Wasn't so much a fan of that. But the actor nailed it.
Oh yeah, agreed.
