I like the idea of the CP3 and Kuminga pairing off the bench. I don’t like the idea of Steph and CP3 in the backcourt for long stretches because it’s gonna lead to mismatches defensively
If I’m Kerr Steph plays 33 minutes a night. CP3 plays 28.
CP3/Steph overlap for 13 minutes
Steph gets 20 minutes alone
CP3 gets 15 minutes alone
CP should play even less IMO, 20-24MPG so his body holds up.
Yeah he’s still got it offensively but defensively CP3 is washed. Off the bench he’ll be incredible on offense and running the team. Just can’t expect him to be the defender he used to be anymore
His hands are still as fast as they ever were, so he'll still get his steals. But the rest of his D is just gone now. he just doesn't have the foot speed anymore to stay in front of anyone like he used to be able to. Any CP3/Curry minutes together might be rough at times for that D imo.
Feel like the Kings didn’t do the best identifying the mismatches tonight. If Steph is guarding Keegan we need to have Keegan post him up, he showed he has that mid range fadeaway tonight, that’s a perfect place to use it
It's really not that simple tbh.
Keegan's drive game from the post still looks a little raw. If he's taking contested midrange jumpers from the post, Warriors will be very happy.
And if Warriors throw a double at him his playmaking isn't good enough for the play to still be a good one.
Same reason why Kerr doesn't post up Kuminga all that frequently
