Looks like CP3 has fully bought into this Warriors team by coming off the bench (played 30 minutes). It'll be much easier for him to score against opposing benches compared to starting lineups. Curious to see what his minutes look like once the team is fully healthy.

Chris would be better off the pine anyways. Probably gets them like 11 and 7 off the bench in 22 minutes a game.

Still good but his unselfishness and reluctancy to look for his shot at times last year would be annoying

[–] feelnoways2020@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well now he’s playing with the greatest shooter of all time, so it’s okay…for now lol

I kinda been noticing that in the preseason games too but he started being more aggressive in the clutch. Was he always like this on the Suns?

[–] Imthegoat175@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think he can get away with it more with GS than he did here since when he needed to be more aggressive while playing off Book and Mikal still wasn’t comfortable consistently creating off the dribble yet when he was on the Suns but yeah he would mostly save his energy to take over in the 4th.

it became a lot more noticeable last year.

part of that was that our style of play changed a lot once we got KD which put him in a position he wasn't as comfortable in - he is a very reluctant catch and shoot guy. when he's running the PnR and getting to take his midrange pullups going right he's more aggressive, but even on those he was looking for it less last year and his percentage on midrange jumpers dropped kind of sharply. was still good at them, in previous seasons it had pretty much been a layup though and it was just less automatic.

I mean, he was always trying to get the other players a shot. But there was that time he closed out the Clippers to get to the Finals by scoring 27 points from about halfway through the third quarter until he got taken out with 2 minutes left. That was EPIC.

I like the idea of the CP3 and Kuminga pairing off the bench. I don’t like the idea of Steph and CP3 in the backcourt for long stretches because it’s gonna lead to mismatches defensively

[–] CumAssault@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah he’s still got it offensively but defensively CP3 is washed. Off the bench he’ll be incredible on offense and running the team. Just can’t expect him to be the defender he used to be anymore

[–] SomeRandom928Person@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Just can’t expect him to be the defender he used to be anymore

His hands are still as fast as they ever were, so he'll still get his steals. But the rest of his D is just gone now. he just doesn't have the foot speed anymore to stay in front of anyone like he used to be able to. Any CP3/Curry minutes together might be rough at times for that D imo.

Feel like the Kings didn’t do the best identifying the mismatches tonight. If Steph is guarding Keegan we need to have Keegan post him up, he showed he has that mid range fadeaway tonight, that’s a perfect place to use it

[–] draymond-@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It's really not that simple tbh.

Keegan's drive game from the post still looks a little raw. If he's taking contested midrange jumpers from the post, Warriors will be very happy.

And if Warriors throw a double at him his playmaking isn't good enough for the play to still be a good one.

Same reason why Kerr doesn't post up Kuminga all that frequently

[–] everyoneneedsaherro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If I’m Kerr Steph plays 33 minutes a night. CP3 plays 28.

CP3/Steph overlap for 13 minutes

Steph gets 20 minutes alone

CP3 gets 15 minutes alone

[–] practiceyourart@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

CP should play even less IMO, 20-24MPG so his body holds up.

[–] WhenItsHalfPastFive@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Trayce Jackson got some clutch buckets too

[–] scahote@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

the one and only Trayce Jackson Davis IU scoundrel

[–] MyChristInBrother@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Doubt he comes off the bench in the reg season

[–] lilzoe5@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

And why is that

[–] fantasymagic@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

CP3 should have Ginobili type minutes so he can make it through the playoffs for once.

[–] Helicase21@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

6MoY Chris Paul propaganda starting early

[–] Pormock@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He does not even need to score ton of points. He can be the one passing the balls during non Curry/Green time and that would be enough. Him and Kuminga are gonna terrorize the league this year

[–] xerxesthagreat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

klay really gets away with doing nothing on the group project

[–] kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah it’s tough because you gotta give him time to get back to his season form.

But other part of me accepts that this is who he is going forward. A decline with flashes of his former self.

[–] rpars18@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah you’re probably right. He looks a step slower than he used to (TBF it’ll probably happen when you tear your Achilles and ACL).

As long as Wiggins doesn’t miss time again I think it’ll help Klay focus more on offense

[–] johnnyramonsanchez@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Klay was like 19% for the first couple weeks a few years back and then went for 37 in a quarter. He struggled a lot early last year and went on a tear leading the league in 3s at 41%. I used to hate the variance as a warriors fan, but I’ve realized I’m very spoiled having the 2 greatest shooters of all time. Plus pooles variance was a lot more infuriating, so klays is far more tolerable

[–] HotspurJr@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Easier to score against benches" - I don't know how much that's a thing since it's not like people do hockey subs.

CP has always been an excellent scorer. I suspect he'll continue to be one as long as he's in the league.

[–] Hulk_Crowgan@alien.top 0 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Chris Paul is easily 6 man of the year

[–] SmokyOtter@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

eric gordon and grayson allen are both microwave scorers off the bench for the suns theyll both get heavy minutes all year and should score a ton, they both have a shot at 6moy too

[–] Hulk_Crowgan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Grayson Allen takes 6moty I will eat my own ass

[–] MrWakey@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

6' man of the year?
