The Trust Fund Team
Playing in the 70s and 80s wasn’t exactly profitable like it is today. Especially non all stars.
It was a joke haha but if we were to look at it seriously then saying it wasn't profitable during the times these guys played is simply not true.
Every one of those players except Wiggins made millions of dollars which is more money than 99% of people will make in their entire lives.
Career Earnings of the mentioned players with current US dollars adjusted for inflation in parentheses.
Dell Curry / $19,296,000($37,499,691)
Gary Payton / $104,367,619($190,905,929)
Mychal Thompson / $2,422,000($5,498,422)
Mitchell Wiggins / $670,000($1,480,595)
Dale Davis / $77,281,958($136,891,413)
Even the guys like Wiggins and Thompson who weren't All Stars made a good amount of money in the context of how long they were in the league which was only 2 seasons each.
Wiggins who made the least of the 5 both in total and per year still made 335,00 a year more than most doctors and lawyers make but nobody would say being a lawyer of a doctor isn't profitable.
Now is that trust fund money? No clearly not haha but it was still profitable it's not like Mychal Thompson had to moonlight as a garbage man to support his family while he was in the NBA.
I agree, except for Wiggins. Lawyers and doctors generally have careers that last more than 2 years.
