Basically the title. Zenith makes some pretty stellar and innovative watches imo. I also love their history and style. However, the brand recognition outside of watch lovers is pretty dismal. And while I generally buy watches for me, I do want the watches I buy (particularly those I’m paying $5k-10k for) to have some brand recognition among the public. What happened with Zenith in this respect? Or am I giving the public too little credit?

Because its not one of the three or four brands normal people know about. Most people don't care about brands of watches that cost way more money than they would ever consider to spend on a wrist accessory.

This and marketing. Probably more of the latter than the former, since people may think “ I won’t spend that much in a [brand]” but are still seduced by Rolexes and Cartiers that cost the same if not more.

Yep. I'm the opposite though. I get much more excited about a Fortis Marinemaster than I do a Rolex Submariner.

Despite being into watches for a while now, I’m still not at the point where I can buy a micro brand price for over £1000, as cool as the pieces are I have to admit I like looking down and seeing Rolex or Cartier.
