As a gen-x person it breaks my heart to admit that the format is meant for a bygone era. They just aren't something people care for today.
Letterman, Conan and Ferguson were the tail end of the format's viability.
The show was a hit, it has plenty of audience.
The issue is that CBS is caving to Fascist 47 after they lost their lawsuit.
Sadly no. The death of the late night talk show is almost inevitable. You can find articles detailing the format's struggles going back years.
