After silently judging as I scrolled through posts riddled with hot takes from 5 years ago I thought...

What are your hottest takes about how the NBA will look 5 years from now? (Go wild with your guesses, nobody will be judging you......)

My hot takes are

  1. Josh Giddy will be in the MVP race
  2. The Booklyn Nets will have either made or won the finals due to Bridges and Ben Simmons showing out
  3. LeBron will continue to refuse to retire, while still putting up 18/4/4. And will blame it on wanting to play with his wife's uncles barbers daughters stepson 17 years from now.

After KD declines with age or retires, the Suns find themselves in a similar situation to Portland with Lillard where they are still competitive but not contenders because Devin Booker and the FO refuses to have him traded in the name of loyalty. By the end of the 5 years, Booker is the franchise leader in many statistical categories.

Genuinely a really thorough and realistic take, could definitely see this happening tbh.

the suns are a bigger FA destination than portland. it’s not LA but it’s something at least. and 3 big name players chose to be traded just to play with booker. i felt the suns would decline quickly after 2022 when cp3 showed his age but then kd and beal came so you never know

I'm hoping we can bring Bridges back in 2026 when our cap clears up.

Booker coming home to Michigan my dudes. When Cade is all NBA he's gonna be the final piece.

[–] wichita_gator@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If Booker does ever want to leave, I think him and Ishbia will work together to get him to Detroit. Gotta show love to their home state.

KD will join the bucks to complete his hardest road tour

[–] wichita_gator@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (5 children)

I could see him signing a one-year deal with OKC now that they have cats he can win with.

We don't want him. If we sign anyone to let them coast to a ring, it'll be Russ

Good for your franchise that Presti isn't as dumb as you

[–] Raptorpicklezz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Presti also isn't as dumb as Kevin Durant, who left a WCF Game 7 team to join the Warriors and coast to 2 worthless rings

[–] SeaDistance7230@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Presti also isn't as dumb as Kevin Durant"

You talking about the guy who didnt want to pay Harden.. and traded him for Kevin Martin lol

You talking about the guy who drafted Cam Payne, Mitch Mcgray,Perry Jones.

Yeah Presti gets credit now after he already burned down a future dynasty but hey hopefully he gets it right this time with more than 1 finals apperance and 4 WCF.

In ~50 years, Durant will be remembered as a two-time champ and not as the guy who took the hardest road.

Like, we won't forget, but a couple generations later, that'll just be a footnote.

If any teams gm is as dumb as anyone in this sub, that fanbase should be concerned. But go off king, you seem very smart and likeable

[–] NegativeJury8639@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It was hyperbole for saying how on earth would you not want the most efficient shooter in the league? Sorry I forgot how dense Oklahoma is.

[–] Zeeron1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Because there is heavy baggage with KD and literally the only reason he was linked to us was because he played for us before. We can win without him, and he's not the only option in the league for free agency/trades. Also, flair up

[–] TheMadChatta@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

What baggage other than internet memes?

ngl i can see OKC signing russ for a retirement tour but i just cant see them signing KD after what he did lol

[–] Duderus159@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

If KD wants to go back to OKC I think they’ll make it work

He would go to the Sonics

[–] SolidGoldToast@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah even 40 year old Durant will still probably be a decently efficient 20-something point per game scorer

[–] I_Poop_Sometimes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Durant as a super 6th man would be awesome, 20 minutes of hyper efficient scoring against the other teams 2's.

[–] SolidGoldToast@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

6MOTY Kevin Durant

I’m here for the KD redemption tour in OKC

[–] steadynappin@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

kd gonna be an all-star til he retires

He'd be a neat fit in Orlando when they're better in a few years.
