I know achievements will dictate whether he'll belong or not but as a player, and the skillset he possesses, do you think he will be talked about like how Steph Curry is being talked about as a shoe-in for Top 10 status?
I think yes because at the core of his game, he is a Top 5 offensive player of all time and it would've been sealed had he won MVP and FMVP this year (what a travesty giving it to Embiid). He is statistically as impactful as Michael Jordan and that says a lot.
Looking at his game, he's the perfect offensive center who can do it all minus the athletic feats. He's like Magic Johnson but he's a more reliable and more efficient scorer who mainly playmakes from the high post.
The thing with Jokic is, his game is built to last. It isn't reliant on athleticism and will be a consistent threat unless he retires early. I honestly think he'll be in the mix for Top 10 when all is said and done.
Why do people still complain about embiid mvp? Jokic deserves it but its a regular season award & embiid was better there.
It shouldn't have been a tight race to begin with (and wasn't for the vast majority of the season).
And people were saying it at the time too.
The funniest part is not someone having opinion on something as vague as "best player", that can mean anything to anyone.
The funniest part by far is that they THEMSELVES were obsessed about how awful would it be to give it to Jokić lol. I know from experience how much shit you'd get for the whole season when you even mentioned that maybe, maybe Jokić might be kinda considered by someone to not be so bad.
It was unimaginable to even say this is possible in winter. Even presenting any point of view was massively downvoted, not rarely called racist. Like... Where are all these guys now? Now I keep reading for months that Embiid's MVP was "travesty" lol.
Jokic still was on the floor for more wins eventhough he sat those games out. Jokic was just better in the regular season even while cruising to the number one seed.
