After silently judging as I scrolled through posts riddled with hot takes from 5 years ago I thought...

What are your hottest takes about how the NBA will look 5 years from now? (Go wild with your guesses, nobody will be judging you......)

My hot takes are

  1. Josh Giddy will be in the MVP race
  2. The Booklyn Nets will have either made or won the finals due to Bridges and Ben Simmons showing out
  3. LeBron will continue to refuse to retire, while still putting up 18/4/4. And will blame it on wanting to play with his wife's uncles barbers daughters stepson 17 years from now.

  1. Butler literally wills the Heat to an NBA title this season, beating the Nuggets.

  2. Despite losing the Finals, Jokic wins league MVP and, more importantly, wins a major horse race back home and views the year as a win.

  3. For 2024 season, Lakers draft Bronny to play with Bron. Lakers stay healthy, and Bron wins his 5th NBA title and Finals MVP against the Celtics. Then he retires, fulfilling his promise to play with Bronny.

  4. Bucks never live up to their hype bc, despite having an excellent big man & guard/forward combo, they're one of several teams who does. Dame retires one of the best players in history to never win a title.

  5. At the beginning of the 2025 season, Nuggets and Celtics are early favorites for the title. But Warriors, who aren't even a top seed in the West, play like their life depends on it and upset both the Nuggets and the Celtics to win the 2025 NBA, giving Steph his 5th and CP3 his very first. They both choose to retire on top.

  6. This season, both the Lakers and Warriors are completely irrelevant for the first time in a while. With Bron and Steph out the league, KD is the only remaining great from the 2000s-early 2010s. Kawhi and PG are still there, but both only play half the season in a good year so they've stopped being relevant. They ultimately fizzle out of the league, Kawhi kinda just disappears, and PG's podcast blows up big time.

  7. Embiid, tired of losing in the ECF to the Heat and Celtics, decides not to resign with Philly and an ultra complex trade leads to him going to Dallas with Luka and Kyrie. They make it to the Finals in their first year, but lose due to subpar team chemistry (expected, only first season). But then they go on to win the next to win the 2027 and 2028 NBA championships, with Luka and Embiid both splitting a Finals MVP a piece.
