I think KP actually has one of the, if not the best chance in the NBA at shutting down Wemby this season when they face each other.

When you think about it , he’s only 1 in shorter. Yes his wingspan is 6 inches shorter but KP jump really high, he has a max touch of over 12 foot. I don’t think Wemby release point is that much higher than 12 foot.

Also KP is barely slower and less agile than Wemby. I don’t think Wemby has enough good handles to beat him off the dribble. He’s also way stronger than Wemby so he can’t back him in the post.

I know KP’s injuries have hindered his athleticism but I don’t know if it’s that much. I still think he has the explosiveness and agility to guard him, I might be mistaken tho.

If not, do you think pre-injuries KP would have been his defensive nightmare?

I agree Porzingis is a good height to challenge Wembanyama on his straight up shot or near the rim if Wembanyama is off balance. Maybe Jackson can do some things as well with his weight advantage. But, Wembanyama's handles make him one of the most obvious double teams in the NBA because you don't want him to sit there on a one v one and shoot over his defender all day with that slight fade and get comfortable. Good defensive teams will attempt ball denial when he doesn't have the ball and when he does, most players will stunt toward him since NBA players are fast as hell and there should be enough time to strip him on his rim attacks. Once he learns consistently how to do that Giannis one step from the three point line, it will be harder, but I eventually think teams will adopt a Giannis like defense against him, and let him shoot from range(since he can shoot over everyone anyway).

I don't agree Porzingis is just a bit slower and less agile that Wembanyama. This guy has a crazy handle for his height and can cut back and forth pretty easily, Porzingis never had that. Porzingis is definitely more a straight line to the basket player versus NBA talent.
