A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Hey,

I took a couple of thousands photos with my DJI Mini 2 in the last couple of years. In almost all cases, I used its raw photo shooting mode which saves the photo both in .dng and .jpg format. I stored the files locally syncing the folders with OneDrive, then moved to iCloud Drive as I was changing cloud service. I stored all files online only.

I've just noticed that all the .dng files resolution became 960 x 540 pixel but its size remained the original, that is 17.7 - 18.5MB. The photos saved in .jpg are fine, 4000 x 2250 and 4MB.

What happened to the raw pics during all these moving and transfering over time? Can I recover the original .dng shots somehow?

960×540 is the size of the embedded jpeg preview in the dng. try some other software that loads the raw data and not just the preview image.

Yes, I've just learned that it is the preview image. I used the default software on a PC for opening these. If I use Lightroom, it's OK.
