The concept of "human scale" is most known in urban design and architecture, but it provides a good framework to think about a lot of different aspects of our lives.
This community can be the place in this hyper-connected world to display and cherish the things that are not.

Because the whole genre is an experiment looking for a use, making the UX shit for the majority of use cases.
The point of 'Smart Homes' is to make things easier. A smart thermostat makes saving energy easier, having to command your lights every time you enter a room is annoying. And the majority of 'Smart' appliances are just examples of 'Hey look we can put an app in your toaster!'. Without anyone asking, why the fuck would you want an app in your toaster.
