Short answer, why would it lol.
Apg leaders used to be guys that were very good point guards, usually short, but not really big on scoring themselves. Makes sense that that kind of guy would be the one most often assisting, that's like the role.
There are basically no guys like this anymore, the few last ones are in their 30's. It's just not how teams are built in NBA anymore.
Nowadays, top apg guys are usually also scoring a ton, short guys mostly have to be excellent shooters to be playable, the whole distribution of shots is completely different.
