I really REALLY want to be excited about it, but it's hard. I don't feel like the players really care, so why should I care? It's not the championship. It's the start of the season, so every team is already trying to win every game they can. The trophy isn't really a needed incentive.

I know people love tournaments, but usually they end in a championship. Not a mid-season award.

Help me out here. Why should I be hyped for this? I really want to be. I would love for the long regular season to be a bit more exciting. This could be the start of a good idea but I don't feel like anyone is going to care about who wins the cup in the middle of the season.

Do you get excited about regular season games? The in-season tournament is just regular season games with a cash prize.

If you don't get excited about regular season games, then you likely won't get excited about the in-season tournament.

If you do get excited about regular season games, then that's exactly what's happening.
