You can't create a narrative if you post what really happened.

Utah was a Cinderella story early last season. What happened to that magic?

Sigh. How can a player both act like a tough guy AND be a flopper?

In my mind, a possession where a player dribbles the ball for 23 seconds and then chucks up an ugly shot that clanks off the side of the backboard should be counted as a turnover. Probably even worse than a turnover.

PG13 is obviously a great player, but he has already admitted that he is not good enough to be the number 1. The problem is, at this point nobody on that team is good enough to be a number 1. They are a team with two or three guys who could be the number 2 on a championship team, and all of them play like they are the first option.

Paul George can put up all the great numbers he wants. His play style will not win a championship if he shares the court with 2 or 3 other people who play the same style.

While Lavine is a better individual player than Reaves, the Lakers would be so stupid to make this trade. Reaves makes cuts. Reaves moves without the ball. Reaves does dirty work.

Maybe Lavine helps when Lebron isnt on the floor, but with Lebron on the floor they would basically be playing "your-turn-my-turn" with AD also added to that mix. What is the point of having a great passer if there is nobody cutting? Lavine will stand in the corner until he has the ball in his hands.

That isnt to say it cant work. Lavine is a freak athlete and has games where he looks like an All-NBA player. But is he a fit for the Lakers. No.

In theory, Harden and Westbrook SHOULD be the guys to get the offense going. They both play an iso-style where they kick the ball to someone with 2 seconds left on the shot clock, so it isnt great, but they are supposed to be good at running an offense.

Leonard and George have played the way they do now for the last 10+ years, so I wouldnt expect them to change. I would, however, expect them to play better defense. They used to be known for their defense. Im sure age and injuries have impacted how well they can defend, but they may also be wearing themselves out playing iso.

The Spurs are not constructed to contend. Anyone who thought Wemby would take them from trash to contender during his rookie season was sadly mistaken.

Say they have a full season together to learn, scheme, and mesh. How good would they be in their second season?

I am assuming that Pop would do a better job of reigning in all the iso play that the Clippers currently live and die by. He would also be better at finding which rotations work.

I would also hope that the stars respond better to his coaching? Either they will play as a team or they will implode. I suppose both possibilities are likely considering the players.

Are they a playoff team? A contender? Would everyone clash with his coaching style and end up rebuilding by the end of the season?

Its really a shame. The team was better before the Harden trade. Its not even necessarily Harden's fault. They just play way too much iso and would rather take fugly shots off the side of the backboard than get someone an open shot.

Poole isnt really gunning like I would expect him to, though. Last night he only took 9 shots. He has had a few games this season where he didnt shoot that many shots.

When I think tank commander, I think of a player who is just chucking and getting his stats without caring about the team results. That typically leads to a high draft pick.

Brúh you played behind embiid

Clippers fans should be more concerned with their big 3 or whatever getting beaten by the nuggets at home without jokic and Murray.

Its hard to lump Retired NBA Players together. There are ex-players who really understand the game and others who are Kenrick Perkins. There are players who respect the current generation and players who view their era as better and want modern players to play like they did.

I like the retired players who know the game and enjoy the modern era for what it is.

Last night the Hawks showed why they are not a serious team. Our team defense is terrible and we turned the paint into a layup line. Capela is our big who is a rim protector. Onyeka is athletic and young, but he doesnt exactly deter anyone from attacking the paint.

Our drafts have been kind of nonsensical. We keep picking up new players at our deepest positions, then not giving them any minutes. We picked Griffin last year, and even though he hit 2 game winners in his first 2 months on the team, he is basically out of the rotation. We picked Bufkin this year, even though we have 2 fringe-all star point guards and he will never see the court.

But we need size. We traded away Collins, who wasnt a great defender but he could block shots. Last night we were playing stretches with Jaylen Johnson at center. That simply isnt going to work. Imagine if we have to play Embiid or Giannis in the playoffs. They will destroy us.

But who is really out there that a team would be willing to part with?

Thanks,

Travis Shlenk

The Mavs actually had Brunson and Dinwiddie, but let's just leave it at Brunson for the sake of argument. The Mavs had what now appears to be a really good core around Luka a few years ago, but I guess they didn't want to pay Brunson. After a series of trades, they ended up with Kyrie Irving.

The team looks good right now and Kyrie looks like he has accepted being Robin. Come playoff time, having a guy like Kyrie is going to be very valuable. He has experience and can take over games, especially when doncic is cold.

On the other hand, Brunson has been playing really well and looks good leading the Knicks offense alongside a cold-shooting Julius randle. I'm not sure that Brunson would be content ball watching on the Mavs and waiting for his turn like he would be on the Mavs.

My main argument for Brunson is that he is on his way up while Kyrie is on his way down. Kyrie, on the other hand, has been one of the best iso scorers in the league for a decade and seems to have accepted a backseat role.

Who would the Mavs rather have?

Westbrook had a bad time with the Lakers. He didnt fit in to the offense, played well off the bench, and eventually left. He was the scapegoat the entire time.

His time with the Clippers has been a feel-good story. He took a minimum contract to go play for a team that appreciated him. He got to play his game and, while still turnover prone, had a positive impact on the team.

Now that Harden is there, he seems to be in the same situation he was with the Lakers. The offense is a mess and he is taking a lot of the blame for it. Now he is moving to the bench. If they continue to lose, is he going to get shipped to a bad team for size?

I hope not. Russ plays hard and has many skills that would be valuable to a team. His shot left him a long time ago and he is turnover prone, but he can also move the ball around and initiate the offense when the rest of the stars are focused on playing iso.

Does this feel like its becoming a Lakers situation?

There are lots of great white players right now. Its kind of like a white NBA player renaissance. Most of those players are, of course, not from around these parts. Who is the best white American player?

Im not sure if Domantas Sabonis is considered American. He was born in Portland but he played for Eurpoean teams growing up (not sure he lived overseas or just played for those teams). If he is Amercian, then I would say he is the best.

After that there is a pretty steep drop off. Is it Tyler Herro? Austin Reaves?

I really REALLY want to be excited about it, but it's hard. I don't feel like the players really care, so why should I care? It's not the championship. It's the start of the season, so every team is already trying to win every game they can. The trophy isn't really a needed incentive.

I know people love tournaments, but usually they end in a championship. Not a mid-season award.

Help me out here. Why should I be hyped for this? I really want to be. I would love for the long regular season to be a bit more exciting. This could be the start of a good idea but I don't feel like anyone is going to care about who wins the cup in the middle of the season.

Watching the last 2 games, it is clear that Lebron wants to hand the reigns over the AD. He is almost 39 and is still very much the engine that runs the team. He has been waiting years for AD to start demanding the ball, hold teammates accountable, and become a vocal leader. It hasnt happened yet.

Lebron is a smart guy. He must realize by now that it isnt going to happen. He has looked more passive over the last 2 games, which I assume is because he is old and wants someone else to do the heavy lifting. AD just hasnt been that guy. AD should be considered up there with guys like Embiid and Jokic as far as talented bigs go, but he isnt. He has the skills, but he doesnt know how to use them unless if shot is falling.

So here is what I suggest.

The Lakers should trader AD to the Hawks for a Jaylen Johnson. JJ has proven to be an up-and-coming star. He will probably end the season with the MIP award and be an All Star next season. He is the future. The Hawks can send him and picks to the Lakers for AD. The Lakers get a talented player who got that dawg in him, while the Hawks get the size that they desperately need, while also not having to worry about paying their young players as the emerge in to stars.

Win win right? Who says no?
