That’s all fine reasoning at the time of the draft. But I was being mocked for suggesting Presti would trade Ous for Duren in a heartbeat, after their rookie seasons. Also, I think it’s crazy to suggest Duren and Chet couldn’t play together. OKC fans are already handwringing at the Ous-at-center minutes and a lot of us are all in favor of a Robert Williams trade.
Could they? Sure because Chet is so amazing, but it’s not the vision the thunder want to have. They don’t want guys who can’t make decisions with the ball and duren is more of a normal big. They don’t want to play that way that’s why they are zero normal bigs on their roster
Yeah he is playing like shit because Ous isn’t a center… he’s playing out of position. Ous is a 4.
Ous isn’t playing like shit cause he’s out of position. His mintues at center aren’t helping, sure. He’s playing a lot better than he did last year, but he’s also still got a long way to go to being a valuable, positive contributor. He’s still far too often unsure what to do on either end, lacks assertiveness and quick decision-making. Can those things be developed with experience? Sure. What’s the likelihood they will? Uhhh… the track record isn’t great but never say never. He still has potential and I hope he hits it.
But, Duren already looked like a stud last year. All I was trying to say that one year in, it’s clear Duren is the better asset, and I’m sure if you asked Sam now with hindsight, he’d agree.
