A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I've been looking at a Nanuk 915 for carrying my camera, lens, and laptop to sports games when I photograph them. My main reasons I am looking at it is the waterproofing (it sometimes rains spontaneously where I live), and more protection in case it gets bumped around or pushed over at a game, as that does happen a lot. Can anyone with a hard case back up my points, or should I stick with a soft case?

Check out the Apache 5800 from harbor freight. Then get the pelican insert for the same size case. It’s a great solution. I use nothing but hard cases and have at least 6 different sizes depending on job.

I looked at the Apache cases but decided against them because of the lower water proof rating, and I also watched some reviews comparing the major hard case brands, and the Apache would always perform the worst. The Nanuk wasn’t significantly more expensive, so I decided to get it.
