A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Help!!

This is my first product photography gig. (I normally just do real estate photography)

So basically I have roughly 200 rugs that need photographing. Each needs 6 photos taken of them. So about 1200 photos. We estimated that I would probably take 3 days to shoot all of the rugs.

My question is, how should I charge them?!

I was thinking of charging $1000 for day rate. And then in terms of licensing, I am not really sure what to charge. It is for their website btw.

The client seems real stingy and I find myself trying to lowball myself into this gig because I need the money… but I also want to be fair to myself…

Be specific on the usage or they will think that they own the images. Will they be giving images to clients for their own website, social and potential Advertising? I would stick with a per item price and get half the fee upfront to confirm the dates or you'll be fighting over invoices, guaranteed. Do not forget to account for your images processing, editing and delivery or you'll turn resentful quickly. If they are stingy, I'd consider that the first red flag.
