People advice me to just go ahead and do businesses and learn from the mistakes, I think it’s just plain stupid to invest on things where I don’t even know who I’m going sell products to. What is your opinion about this?

Big fat yes. Don't waste your time and energy doing something without knowing a thing or two. Not understanding your target market to just go all in is like throwing a rock in the middle of the ocean. It's the most important thing to consider before starting a business. Not knowing your target market means bigger risk of failing unless you have super powers to turn the world upside down. Here's one good read to understand more about target market.
