A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I am brand new to photography, just taking my first pictures with a canon t2i camera and kit lens. I notice when i snap a shot and then look at it on the display in half screen ( some graph on the other half) certain areas of the pic are white blocks with black squiggly lines blinking in and out on top of them. When I move to a full sceen view it goes away. It looks like these spots are usually what would be the brightest parts... the fender glare of a moving car, the white items on my desk, the white trash bag against the grey truck interior, etc. Is something broken or is my camera just trying to tell me something about my white balance??
