How drastically can lighting effect colors/skin tone? (alien.top)

Basically just the title,got some advice recently about how lighting can effect skin tone and I was wondering how I can apply different light sources to accentuate colors. I'm very new to photography and just looking for some general beginner tips please

Extremely drastically. They're basically the same thing. There is no colour without light. But when you change a light source, you change overall tone, not just certain colours. That's white balance.
