Obviously, this is just a comic and has no parallel in the real world.

I don't want to cure cancer. I want to make old man pp work.

Well, it's not that I care about old man pp (yet), that's just where the money is.

Wanda Sykes joke.

We got all kinds of smart people doing stupid shit. Thousands of scientists working on making a better Viagra. Thousands of doctors making better tits. Five guys working on Alzheimer's.

We gonna end up with a bunch of people with big titties and hard dicks and have no idea what the hell to do with them.

Pfizer originally discovered the medication in 1989 while looking for a treatment for angina.

Angina, in full angina pectoris, is chest pain or pressure, usually caused by insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle (myocardium). It is most commonly a symptom of coronary artery disease.

There are a lot of popular inventions that were never meant to be. Cocaine used to be used as a local anesthesia. Rogaine was originally created in the 1950s to treat ulcers. Now it’s used for high blood pressure and hair loss.

I have no doubt there are many, many more.

~Slinkies, silly putty, super glue…~

Out of everything you mentioned, the only one I know is the cocaine one. Thank you for the info.

Makes wish there was a community for accidental successes.

I knew about Rogaine, Silly Putty, and Superglue, but not cocaine.

We must lead very different lives.

I think the point is still the same though, how it's discovered isn't really directly related. Point is if it only worked for angia pectoris, would they have used the same amount of researchers to continue it's development, would competing pharmacies have put as much into their own alternatives etc...

that's just where the money is.

I should start selling old man pp.

I don't want to cure cancer, I want children addicted to my slop content so that they give me what little money they have left! (And I'll accelerate the climate crisis doing it!)
