What Gimmicky Strategies Do You Want to See an NFL Team Try? (alien.top)

Inspired by that thread last week about stacking an entire team with elite offensive linemen and running for 3 yards every single play.

What other crackpot strategies would you like to see an NFL team try? I’ve got two…

1: A rugby-style offense that’s the polar opposite of the tush push. get your speedsters in a Flying V formation in the open field and let them lateral it to each other.

2: An offense that starts 2 mobile QBs (one lefty one righty) in shotgun every play. ball could get snapped to either one to run a somewhat normal offensive scheme, or just max out the gimmicks and do a bunch of flea-flicker, double-pass type stuff with the two guys back there

I, for years, have badly wanted to see an NFL team put the kicker in motion for long field goals.

I know it's possible. I've been able to get the timing down reasonably consistently after just a handful of practice attempts and it definitely adds a bit of range to the kick as you get much more speed vs. the two step run up.

The obvious negatives are that if you mess up the timing you are kinda fucked and it becomes really easy for the defense to time the snap. But I'd love to see a team implement it, and only bring it out if theyre down <4 points late and need a 65+ yarder.

First time you do it, everyone's just gonna be confused, but once they catch on you can start throwing fakes at them. Just send the kicker in motion and don't snap the ball. Teams anticipating the snap based on your kickers motion are gonna fly offside and bingo. Now your 65 yarder is a much more palatable 60 yards.

This is what I’m here for. Offenses and Defenses evolve so much, so often. We need Special Teams evolution at the same rate. It currently stands as the most beneficial unit to improve because it has operated very similarly for a long time.
