Listen, i’m not saying his time isn’t coming to an end at the elite level. But one poor season in 23 years does not call for some of the revisionism occurring here lately. Arguably, the defences he’s still producing (2022, 2021, 2020) have kept the Patriots from rebuilding properly. It isn’t easy in this league to escape from 8-8 hell without a franchise QB.

“Brady made him”. You can use whatever stat you want here, but let’s use the most basic one. Points allowed per game. Of course there are influences here. Time of possession, special teams, ability to generate turnovers. But at its most basic level this is what determines the result of a game.

Brady had 20 seasons as a Patriot. He had a top 10 defence in 17 of them. In 3 super bowl victories, the Patriots played 3 of the top 15 offences in NFL history. 01 Rams, 16 Falcons and 18 Rams. 17 points, 22 points(pick six), 3 points. Even throw the record breaking 04 Colts in there, 3 pts. If we change to PTS per drive, he still has 15 top 10 defences!

Manning had 4, Rodgers had 3, Brees had 2. All three had great ball security and time of possession.

Is Brady the GOAT, yes. His consistency in clutch moments puts him ahead of the likes of Peyton and Rodgers. Did he make Bill the greatest defensive mind in history, no!

Brady record when scoring 20+in the playoffs: 32-4. Rodgers is 12-9 in this statistic for a direct comparison.

Average finish in points per drive among notable QBs

Brady: 9th

Rivers: 15th

Peyton: 18th

Rodgers: 18th

Brees: 20th

Mahomes: 20th

And we are trying to pretend Bill didn’t give Brady a significant advantage over his peers? Another 2 super bowls as a DC.

And you mentioned Bill got his 2 rings as what??? A DC!!

DEFENSEive Coordiner NOT Head Coach!!

(When he also had the literal consensus goat defender btw)

When arguing coaches legacies we don’t count the rings they won as mere assistant coaches. If that’s the case then Josh McDaniel’s is a 3X SB winning coach.

Is Josh McDaniels gonna make the Hall of Fame????

Bruce Arians was a 2X SB Champ as an OC before Brady showed up. If he never came out of retirement would he make the Hall of Fame????

Why don’t we just put every coach who has won multiple rings as a Coordinator in the Hall of Fame???

Seriously you give those 2 super bowls to Belichick as if they were his own. Are you gonna give him Parcells 8 playoff wins with the Giants as well???

Where talking about Bill Belichick as a HEAD COACH!!!!

What exactly has Belichick done as a HC without Brady? AKA what has he done when he is responsible for the entire team? Not just the defense!!!

Brady without Belichick was 32-18 (.640) with 5 playoff wins and a Super Bowl blowout win without him.

Meanwhile Belichick is 46-51 (.474) in New England and 82-95 (.463) Overall with 1 wild card win and 2 blowout playoff losses without Brady.

That’s 177 games and 11 seasons worth of sample size. Not Small

Compare that with how some of his contemporaries have done without their Hall of Fame QBs and it looks even worse.

Reid is 53-29 (.646) in Kansas City and 183-122-1 (.600) Overall with 10 playoff wins and 4 NFC championship and a Super Bowl Appearance without Mahomes.

Payton is still 13-8 (.619) Overall without Brees

Carroll at 72 is now 29-31 (.483) and 62-62 (.500) Overall with only 1 playoff win but still 0 blow out losses without Russell

Dungy was 54-42 (.563) with a couple of playoff wins and an NFC championship appearance in Tampa without Peyton.

Tomlin is 32-26-1 (.550) Overall and zero playoff appearances so far without Big Ben.

And these are only just a few of Belichick contemporaries.

Jim Harbaugh, Doug Peterson, Brain Billick, and even Jon Gruden were able to to have winning record and win a Super Bowl without any Hall of Fame or even anything close to an Elite QB every place they went.

Not saying that all those guys are better than Belichick because it’s definitely understandable to not be as successful without your Hall of Fame QB.

But if you were to take a look and compare Belichicks resume to the rest of the Coaches already in the Hall of Fame without their Hall of Fame QBs then his is worse than at least 90% of them.

They both needed each other. But one clearly needed them more than the other.

Belichick is still an all time Great Coach deserving of the Hall of Fame. But face it. Just like many Coaches in the Hall of Fame he was made by his QB.
