Orrrrrr, you could, and hear me out.....NOT use products from argueably THE biggest invader of privacy of our times. You could just use another messanger.

Your employer is allowed to tell you what apps you have on your personal phone?
I had a shit employer, I'm normally self-employed but I took a job one winter, they wanted me to download some app called Deputy to like spy on me 24/7. I never did.
Your employer owes you a phone if they want you to use software that they specify.
probably not a realistic take, even if I agree with it.
Whatsapp is so popular that if you're outside of the US the expectation is not weird
