I’ll tell y’all an embarrassing story.
Way back when, I may have been in 6th grade. The Bills had a MNF game against the Cowboys. This was the first Bills MNF game in ages. Like 7 years. I was so excited. I got home from school and tuned into ESPN. I watched it the whole night leading up to the game.
The Bills were BAD. Like BAD in all caps. The Cowboys were good lead by Tony Romo, Jason Witten, and DeMarcus Ware. Nobody thought we stood a chance.
It came time for picks. Everyone but Chris Berman picked the Cowboys.
I watched with anticipation. The whole game. My dad promised he’d watch it with me. He wasn’t there again. So I was there alone. I remember the Kyle Williams INT. I remember us shocking the world for 3 quarters.
We lost the game on a FG. I remember praying to God saying, “God, please let the Bills win”. We didn’t. We didn’t win that day. I cried myself to sleep.
We had a field trip to the museum the next day. I wore my Willis McGahee jersey. I was sad and upset.
Then the next week we squared up against the Washington then Redskins at 1PM EST. I approached the game with the same excitement and anticipation.
That’s when I learned what it was like to be a Buffalo fan.
If you read this much, much love. Just wanted to share.
