Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I do not understand this but maybe it's because I'm a guy and keep my keys in my front pocket. I keep literally the BARE MINIMUM of things on my key chain. So far as I even have separate keychains for separate vehicles instead of having one key chain for all of them. My SO on the other had has 2lbs of trinkets on her keychain.

Opposite goals. If it's in your pocket it needs to be minimal size. If it's deep in your purse, it needs to be easy to grab.

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 54 points 3 weeks ago

Makes complete sense. Well said

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And if it's on a carabiner on your belt loop, you want a middle ground which is a situation in which large hair ties really shine. Added bonus, you're likely the sort who needs one regularly and likes being able to offer one to people who need one.

[–] oasis@piefed.social 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Doesn't it make a lot of noise walking around with your keys constantly hanging on your belt? I would also be scared that someone stealing them while on the train or something.

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 weeks ago

Have you ever walked past a janitor or security person and heard their keys rattling? I don't think I have, and they typically have a lot of keys. Unless they're bumping into something, they should all swing as a single unit. It shouldn't really be an issue.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Not really, unless you have a lot of keys. They just kinda swing together. And pickpockets are rare in my country, so the fact that they're in front of me where my hand naturally rests leaves me feeling secure in them

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Seems like the purse is going to have an ever escalating competition for being big enough to grab.

I don't have Seperate Keychains for each vehicle, I have all of my vehicle keys on quick releases, so I can just clip on the vehicle key I want to drive. It's great. I do sacrifice minimalism a bit for some practicality in other ways, but yeah, I try to keep it light.

Sounds like a lot of crap, but it ends up looking like this, which isn't too bad, considering all of the utility it has.

You should get an S carabiner for the flash drives so you don't have to plug your keys into your computer.

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

That would add some bulk, and I don't really have issues with plugging my keys into a computer. Frankly, I don't use the flashdrives that often, but when I need them, they're lifesavers.

Word. They work for me, figured I'd share.

The Ventoy stick i have is a Lexar 128GB one that has both A and C on it. Highly recommend as thats then one less thing to carry.

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

I really love the form factor of the sticks I carry, the solid one piece of metal with no moving parts. The dual ones always have a swivel, though that lexar one does look nice.

The USB C adapter just goes on the end of one of the sticks so it doesn't really add another thing to carry.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why would you want an USB-C for your Linux install drive??

[–] thejml@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

... why wouldn't you? Works just like any other USB but usually faster. Every Motherboard/laptop I've had in the last 10 yrs has one.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 weeks ago

They have bootable usb c? TIL.

BTW it was a joke post ofc.

The Ventoy thing reminds me of my minimalist setup:

  • My car keyfob.
  • My apartment key (on an extra keyring so it dangles lower to use immediately when I grab the whole set by the keyfob).
  • My mailbox key.
  • My work key.
  • Minimal 256 GB flash drive partitioned into 100 GB for Ventoy and 150 GB for random personal files. This is my favorite minimalist shape for flash drives by far.

I have done geocaching and I've got a Steam Deck, so I may be borrowing the pen and adapter ideas, though I'll probably keep the adapter with the Deck.

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I should definitely combine my flashdrives into one... But I haven't gotten around to that I suppose. The form factor of these is awesome, I've been using them for over 10 years, my first one was a USB-2 variant.

I might steal the idea of putting my house key on a lower ring, I currently find it by feeling the teeth as they're newer and sharper than my parent's house key lol.

[–] Fmstrat@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

My place has a lock with an key fob. I cloned it to a sticker snd put it on my license. I can leave with my car key, license, and CC and be good.

[–] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sounds like you need a purse for that

[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

What. Did you look at the photo? My keys are probably still smaller than average.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] Joelk111@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Had to look that up. I'm happy keeping my keys in my pocket.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

Oh, but there are so many other cool gadgets you can hook to it! A capsule full of sewing needles, a seam ripper, a small pair of scissors, maybe even a soft measuring tape. You could be a portable tailor!

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 5 points 3 weeks ago

Is it possible she's a medieval dungeon master?

[–] Bubs12@lemmy.cafe 4 points 3 weeks ago

I changed the locks on my house to one with a keypad so I only have to carry a car key.

[–] SilverCode@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

Same. I keep my car and house keys separate so I can leave my house keys in the car and just carry the car key in my pocket. My house keys are just the remote and key to get into my house, nothing else.

My wife has all the other keys in her handbag, including all the spare keys because she can't find the main set in bag, so she takes the spares as well. Sometimes she also takes mine because she can't find the main set or the spare set in her bag (or wherever she placed them).
