I'm indifferent to the in season tournament, but does anyone else feel like it's too early?

The season just started. I feel as though the tournament taking place around Christmas, or right after Christmas would combat that sort of mid season lull.

Right now, we are all high from the season starting. Do we need the tournament this early?
