We should be thankful for the US continuing the fight to undo the problems the US caused when they illegally invaded Iran?
Thanks a lot
Well
The problems existed before
And it might never be undone in our lifetimes
But Trump definitely made everything worse
The strait was open before.
And Iran was still a petty dictatorship executing civillians, creating millitant groups in neighboring countries, and holding the strait hostage.
To be real clear on this I place human life and aversion to suffering far far far above oil prices. I realize that there are casualties in costs of goods and global diplomacy with the trade stopping, but there are also upsides to lower fossil fuel use.
Those things haven't changed. Iran is still a petty dictatorship executing civilians. I don't know what your point is here.
That was my point. That's literally what I said in the first comment. The problems haven't changed.
If you go back to the 50's Iran was a democracy, USA destroyed that, and ever since USA has prevented Iran from achieving normal international relations. Despite that Iran was NOT pursuing nuclear weapons, and have agreed to being controlled to not be building up weapons grade uranium. An Agreement USA abandoned one-sidedly and illegally for no reason but that Trump, the current president at the time disagreed with a previous president Obama that made the agreement.
Even before the current war, Iran agreed to an even stricter control than the one Obama negotiated. Despite that USA chose to bomb Iran, just like John McCain joked about. Because to American politicians bombing a foreign country is no big deal.
So what exactly do you mean by "The problems"?
Seems to me "The Problem" here is USA.
IDK where you've been reading about this but Iran supposedly shuttered a Nuclear Weapons development program in 2003 according to international watchdogs IAEA but continued to produce enriched uranium and have refused to allow them to inspect at least three facilities and routinely attempted to hide them. They were part of a nuclear disarmament treaty under Obama which Trump pulled out of in his first term and has failed to renegotiate.
You clearly don't understand the issue, enriched uranium have other purposes, and has no bearing on whether they made weapons grade enriched Uranium.
You can make low grade enriched Uranium in a matter of a couple of weeks, but weapons grade takes much longer to make.
Even if Iran made a nuclear bomb, what right does USA have to bomb Iran and freeze their assets when Iran hasn't done anything to USA?
So then why didn't Iran reveal all their enrichment sites? Why allow them to inspect 13 but hide the others? Why refuse to negotiate a new disarmament treaty?
Also, Iran has funded and armed extremists across the region which constantly clash with the USA and US Allies, such as them starting the Gaza Genocide by arming the Hamas attack on the music festival. "Done nothing to them" is bullshit.
But they did when they agreed to it with the Obama agreement. Consensus is that Iran never had anything near weapons grade Uranium after they agreed not to.
The ayatollah Trump killed, was even against Nuclear weapons from a religious perspective!!
But I honestly don't give a shit about you bullshit whataboutism, because the 2 most dangerous countries to have nuclear weapons are clearly Russia and USA.
Both are politically unstable with clearly unhinged leaders. And I can almost guarantee you that now that USA has started this war, Iran WILL pursue nuclear weapons, because now Iran has a leader where USA killed his entire family, and he has NOT expressed the same aversion to nuclear weapons as the previous leader did.
So again USA created a problem much much worse than the original problem.
USA has created the problem with Iran from the start, when they destroyed Iranian democracy to insert a puppet to control the oil.
Since the Iranian people removed that puppet, USA has never really tried to resolve issues, but have been bullying Iran ever since. No wonder if Iran now wants nuclear weapons, and to be honest I hope they get them. Because maybe THAT can create some stability in the gulf area.
