I watch most of the games and it makes sense. Saul usually drops deep to cover or makes good forward runs leaving Koke with more time on the ball or space and a target. RdP does the same but he usually comes short. Atletico's wide wingbacks exploiting the space in behind are invaluable for it.

I'm not a fan of Koke as a 6 since he's just not a 6 and is lacking in many aspects but it's good to see his passing hasn't fallen off.
